Let’s continue with the water routes.

This week we will go to Jimena de la Frontera, a wonderful village located in the Parque Natural de los Alcornocales, next to which runs a beautiful and recommended trail to walk on hot days. The Hozgarganta River.

At the beginning of the trail we find a huge water channel, the Cao, built in the late eighteenth century to feed an iron foundry known as the Pump Factory, which helped in the siege of Gibraltar and was later rebuilt as a wheat mill.

The rest of the route runs around beautiful farmland and lush nature, making it an ideal route to plan for a unique day in one of the few remaining virgin rivers in the area.

There are several ways to enjoy it; now in summer we recommend you walk it in a linear direction, but if you are more adventurous, the circular route will take you back to the village and will offer you amazing panoramic views.
